April 10, 2026
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and this year’s theme is "Building Stronger Families." At Goochland Powhatan CASA, we believe every child deserves a solid foundation built on safety and support. We are working diligently to advocate for neglected and abused children in our community, but we need your help to change a child’s story.

Look for the Blue Pinwheels
You may have noticed a "flood" of blue pinwheels appearing throughout Goochland and Powhatan! These pinwheels represent the happy, healthy, and carefree childhood we want for every child. As they spin in the wind, they serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility to keep children safe.

Community Outreach & Education
We are heading into local schools and community spaces to share resources and provide direction for youth in need of help.
  • April 15: Executive Director Renae Townsend will be introducing Goochland Chamber's Lunch and Learn with a 3 minute presentation on CASA, our mission. Look for the blue pinwheels as table centerpieces!
National Day of Prayer & Awareness
On April 26, Goochland/Powhatan CASA is partnering with our local Baptist churches for a National Day of Prayer for child abuse prevention. We have asked congregations to set aside time during their morning worship to acknowledge this important cause. We invite everyone to wear blue on this day to show your visible support for the children in our community.

How You Can Help: A dedicated advocate can change the trajectory of a child's life. Whether you are interested in becoming a volunteer, donating to support our mission, or simply wearing blue to spread awareness, your involvement matters.
Together, we can build stronger families and ensuring our children grow up happy, safe, and carefree.
